When circumstances become challenging stress and worries are easy to appear which is not helpful in the process…..

In challenging times it is especially important to maintain and develop an even more relaxed and positive mindset.
Focus on what really matters helps to concentrate on the objective rather than mentally sticking to the problem.

During guided Walking sessions your Coach supports you to be in the here and now. Retrieve your ability to direct your mind. Feel your body, breath, stretch and relax intentionally. Observe you thoughts. Enjoy the present moment even if there are some issues unsolved in your life. Learn to focus on what you want rather than what keeps you from getting it. Burn fat while getting FIT and RELAXED!!!

In 3 weeks you can make a major change! Call Manuela at 310 600 5144 for more information!

Dreaming and visualizing is essential to create the picture of where or who you want to be. Focus on the physical body you want to have rather on the problem zone – where ever this is. Anticipate the feel when you exercise and the wellbeing after exercise rather than on reasons why you might not be able to exercise.

How many thoughts do you dedicate to focus on the problem? And how much time do you spend to visualize the ideal picture? It seems to be much easier to focus on the extra-kilos, the wrinkles, the lack of cash or professional success rather than focus on the parts of life that are already very satisfying. We seem to take for granted what we have once we have it. Dreaming or visualizing what we aim for is uplifting if you allow yourself to get into the vibration, the feel of how you feel in this fit body. You light the fire inside that gives you the energy to go for it. Criticizing an actual unsatisfying state puts you down and kills all enthusiasm and energy for change.

Wanting to loose weight because you see all these beauty queens or muscle men in the media is a poor longterm motivation. It is about them not about you.

What is really important for you? Look like somebody else? Drive the same car as some people you admire? Or live at your best, feel good in your body, enjoy living your life…

A strong motivation comes from yourself, from your own heart rather from your mind or social standards.

How do you get from dreaming and visualizing to acting?

Again, focus on the physical body, the feel when you exercise and the wellbeing after exercise and don´t think twice, just do it. Once started, keep up a routine and keep it flexible to get momentum! Set up e.g. 3 hours a week on a set day. If you don´t make it, don´t look for excuses or feel low, just do it the next day. Just stick to your 3 weekly hours.

Starting a Walking routine for better health and wellbeing is a great start to introduce any changes into your life. Focus on the feeling you want to feel, don´t think twice, keep up the momentum. If you don´t make your appointment, don´t feel bad. Just do it the next day.

The truth is: I am a dreamer and some years back I thought I should change. Today I know the one thing I want to change is sticking to negative thoughts in case I do so. Dreaming is essential to visualize and create a inner picture and feeling of what makes your heart beat higher. If you can lift yourself into a good vibration you are already enjoying the goal you are dreaming of.

In Walking we use this positive dream picture of ourselves. It is easy, fun and effective to go vigorously, relaxed and balanced for one hour. It has a tremendous effect on your wellbeing as long as you stick to the enjoyment of the moment and stick to positive thoughts. It shows in your posture and vibrancy. You are strong and powerful during the Walk.

Stay tuned in. Keep on Walking!

High-Tech Hiking with Android

“My Tracks”

Do you need a way to stay motivated for your daily health walk? We all do and I found a great (free) tool that worked wonders to keep me walking regularly. Here’s my story: I bought a new smartphone called a Galaxy S Vibrant. This is really a little computer that also makes calls and has a built-in GPS unit. It runs operating software called “Android” and there’s lots of free software easily downloaded from “Android Market”. Here’s the entry in Android Market for “My Tracks”:

Once it’s installed in an Android-based smartphone, turn on your GPS, start the app and the rest is simple. Just start walking. The My Tracks app will connect to the built-in GPS and start logging your hike. Press the “Setup” button (bottom-left on keypad) then “Record Track” button. It will show a continuous display of stats for the hike like this:

My Tracks has a couple of other screens available by swiping horizontally. First, a moving-map of every spot on the hike, regardless of the winding path. If you hike in circles or loop into cul-de-sacs, My Tracks stores the total distance travelled, giving you “credit” for every step. In this sense, it’s a hyper-accurate pedometer. Here are some shots of neighborhood streets and the hiking route I took through them in blue. Notice how I go off-street sometimes or go in circles playing fetch with dogs.

If the route was in a hilly area, there’s a chart showing elevation gains and speed along the route. The green line is elevation and the orange line is speed. Notice how I stop regularly to pant while my heartbeat races above 180

It stores ALL the days you hiked, with a dated entry and map of the route taken for each one. There’s a cumulative statistics page showing total distance across all hikes:

Yes, I really do hike at speeds maxing topping 246 miles per hour; I’m incredibly fit. Or perhaps that’s just a glitch in one GPS waypoint. You decide. Another feature of this software is to connect to a heartbeat monitor. I haven’t purchased a heart monitor yet, but they’re $100 and connect to the smartphone through Bluetooth. The heart rate gets recorded and charted next to speed and altitude. It’s on my birthday gift list.

Summary:

My Tracks is a help in maintaining motivation to hike or walk or bike regularly. It makes the logging of distance and time effortless, assuming you have an Android phone with a GPS. The app is free from the Android Marketplace. Search under “My Tracks”.

Read about scientific research results.

Here is my observation of thousands of clients:

Exercise may boost your mood depending on what you focus on during exercise. Some clients thinks about their stress at work, stress at home, stress living in the city all the time or they stick mentally to a current problem such as relationship problem, fear of loosing the job, depression anxiety etc.. It is important to become aware of this process and to freely choose how to spend your time exercising for the best benefit. Think: the problem is not going to run away if I don`t give it my full attention right now and enjoy your hour of exercise. This is how you release the stress and get relaxes.

What is your intention for exerice?

Focus on what you want to achieve rather then what you want not to have in your life. In order to make the most out of your exercise think: this is y quality time, I am relaxed, I breathe fresh air, blood circulates throughout my body, my body is healthy and more healthy each time I exercise….¨

Focus on your wellbeing!!!

If you allow yourself to think something like ¨I hate exercise¨or ¨I am fat and ugly¨ or ¨jogging is too much and power-walking too boring for me¨ you kill not only your motivation and the natural flow of joy, but stick to a negative picture of yourself.

So when you exercise next and want to loose weight, lower your high blood pressure, become more stress-resistant, cope with depression or fight anxiety remember to start with a clear positive intention, focus on what you want to feel like and be present during exercise, be in the ¨here and now¨…

What is so special about WALKING?

It is one of the most natural things to do for a human being. Yet, we tend to do it too little, so the body is suffering and the mind is collapsing of stress.

It seems to be easier to meet an appointment with somebody than to meet up with your own needs in terms of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. A Walking routine creates that space to learn to listen inside, to have your mind calm down, to feel at ease and peaceful and do do your body some good.

If you make appointments with yourself for as little as 30-60 minutes 3 times a week for your own wellbeing space and time for yourself, you create that space to reconnect and feel good, not only physically but in a holistic way.

Give it a try and see how easy you make it for yourself to keep up with your appointment!

If you need support to start we currently offer introductory classes, hiking, cardiovascular exercise in the sierras and Lake Tahoe area as well as email-coaching to get you started, to make the most out of every experience and to stay motivated

Enjoy your time!!!

When I first started coaching people as a Walking Coach in 2001 a Munich Physician asked me to promote the idea of changing the lifestyle to his patients, so I gave little chats in his office for the overweight and high blood pressure clients.

Laws were changing in Germany and doctors were restricted in writing prescriptions. He was also tired of tapping the medical condition on the long term with drugs instead of fixing it. He send me a group of 10 people with weight problems, so I explained why you must not overdo it in order to burn stored body fat. Then, he send me depressed people, so I explained how the hormones work and the light and the training of body consciousness and later the change of thoughts.

Medications are great for instant relief and dangerous situations, yet in order to cure, the patient himself needs to introduce changes in his life besides just taking the medication. This is what I would call your personal power and freedom and right. A positive mindset is the source you can feed the change with.

Physicians nowadays don´t have the time to spend with each patient in order to make a change in the patients perception. It is frustrating and sad how the system works, sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry.

YOU can make a major change in your wellbeing if you suffer from medical conditions such as High Blood Pressure, high Cholesterol, obesity, depression, after child-birth or mood swings during menopause, poor circulation etc. etc..

To be and stay motivated you got to make it FUN! Instead of fighting the problem you pursue the wellbeing

It takes about 3 weeks, 3 times a week Walking for unfit clients to readlize a considerable change in their heart beat. A heart muscle that is hardly used for aerobic exercise due to a sedentary lifestyle looses capacity, just like a leg in a cast looses muscle.

It is amazing to see the change happen within only 3 weeks. Where as an unfit heart beats unstable, rises quickly and needs MANY beats to supply the body with blood during exercise, a fit heart muscle needs less beats to do the same job. If you use a heart beat monitor you can almost see your heart muscle grow. Plus: you experience a clear change in wellbeing breathing fresh air and relaxing.
